Zomato, an online meal delivery service, increased its platform charge to Rs 5 per order, a 25% increase. Food delivery services levy a set cost called a "platform fee" to all of their clients for all orders.
In August of last year, Zomato imposed a Rs 2 platform charge, which it later raised to Rs 3 in order to increase its margins and turn a profit. The food delivery network raised its necessary platform charge to Rs 4 from Rs 3 per order across major cities in January, motivated by record-breaking New Year's Eve meal orders.
A week before the company is set to release its financial results for the March quarter, there is an increase. Additionally, the business has discontinued Intercity Legends, its meal delivery service between cities.
Improvements are being made. The statement appeared on the Zomato app's 'Legends' category. "Please stay tuned as we will be back to serve you soon."
Zomato is said to fulfill between 85 and 90 crore orders a year. Zomato revealed a 30 percent year-over-year increase in adjusted revenue for the December quarter.
A GST demand and penalty order of Rs 11.81 crore for the months of July 2017 through March 2021 was recently received by the company. The ruling is divided into a penalty of the same amount and a GST demand of Rs 5.9 crore. The directive was given by the Central Goods and Services Tax Additional Commissioner, Gurugram, and applied to export services that Zomato supplied to its overseas companies between July 2017 and March 2021.
