Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar asserted on Wednesday that India's ascent is inexorable, predicting that the nation would become the world's third biggest economy in two years.
Speaking on the occasion of the 10th National Handloom Day, he expressed optimism that the best possible use will be made of handlooms, which are the need of the hour, the need of the country, and the need of the world, especially in light of climate change.
The Prime Minister's "Be Vocal for Local" clarion appeal centers on economic independence, with handloom items serving as a major component, according to the Vice President.
Dhankhar strongly advocates economic nationalism, claiming that it is critical to the country's "spinal economic growth" and will result in three important impacts: foreign exchange savings, job creation, and more entrepreneurship.
"I want everyone to respect the national interest. Can we forsake economic nationalism just for fiscal gain? "I have no doubt that no fiscal gain, regardless of size, can justify engaging in avoidable imports," remarked the Vice President.
Dhankhar, pointing out that India is the world's most populated country, stated that "today no one can say we are a nation with potential as we are on the rise."
"The growth is unstoppable; it is incremental. I recall coming to the Lok Sabha for the first time 34 years ago, when our economy was less than that of places like London and Paris, and now we are the world's fifth biggest economy," he remarked.
"We will be the world's third largest economy in two years or less," claimed the Vice President.
He urged citizens to commit and make it a habit to purchase handloom items like as sarees, kurtas, shawls, and so on, so that they become a fashion statement, brand, and result in increased sales.
