He was responding to a question on Musk's planned announcement of a Tesla automobile manufacturing facility in Gujarat at the state's investor event.

Foreign secretary Vinay Kwatra stated that during Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit to the United States in mid-June 2023, conversations with the electric vehicle maker about establishing a manufacturing facility in India were held.
