On September 28, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin laid the groundwork for the JLR and Tata Motors production facility in Ranipet, about six months after the two sides inked the deal. Tata Motors said in March that it has signed a contract with the Tamil Nadu government for a Rs 9,000-crore manufacturing unit that will create 5,000 employment.
Tata Motors is the second car business in recent months to collaborate with Tamil Nadu. Stalin broke ground in February on the electric car and battery production plant of VinFast Auto Ltd, a Vietnamese electric vehicle firm with Rs 16,000 crore in state investments.
On March 4, Tata Motors authorized the division of its operations into two distinct units: commercial vehicles (CV) and passenger vehicles (PV). PVs include electric cars (EVs) and Jaguar Land Rovers (JLR). This will be the automakers' second factory in South India. The country's largest electric car manufacturer already has a factory in neighboring Karnataka's Dharwad.
On September 13, American Ford Motor announced plans to revive a manufacturing factory in Tamil Nadu for exporting. The announcement to revive the factory at Maraimalai Nagar occurred during Stalin's visit to the United States, three years after the business had left India. Tata Motors' shares closed at Rs 988.45 on the National shares Exchange, down 0.37 percent from the previous close.
