Sumi Bora, an Assamese actress, choreographer, and social media influencer, and her husband Tarkik Bora, who are wanted in connection with the multi-crore online stock trading fraud, were held by the Special Task Force (STF) on Thursday, according to a senior police officer. According to the official, the two were apprehended by the STF in Dibrugarh.
The couple and four others were served with a lookout notice after failing to appear before the police following the arrest of the principal accused, 22-year-old Bishal Phukan, in the case.
The actress stated in a video message to a few local media outlets that she would surrender and fully cooperate with the authorities.
Phukan, the owner of the firm that allegedly deceived investors, was detained in Dibrugarh last Thursday, along with his manager. The CID took up the inquiry and constituted a SIT.
The DGP uploaded a photo of the husband and wife with their faces covered with the caption, ''The game is up for them. Congratulations to the Team STF. He didn't reveal their names, though.
