In its pre-seed funding round, the healthtech startup Stance Health has raised $1 million. General Catalyst, a Silicon Valley venture capital firm, spearheaded the funding.
Antler, DeVC (backed by Z47), angel investors Sriharsha Majety and Nandan Reddy, and Kulin Shah, co-founder of Onsurity, are additional investors.
The money raised will be utilized to expand its offerings in India, enhance its technological infrastructure, and open additional physical locations in Bengaluru and other cities.
Rohit Arora and Ninad Karandikar founded Stance in 2024 with the goal of providing musculoskeletal (MSK) care, which alleviates pain in the muscles, bones, and joints. It offers both online recovery programs and in-person care at its centers.
In the eight months since opening its first center, the Bengaluru-based startup says it has already conducted over 12,000 sessions. It intends to open in another city the following year and add six more centers by December.
To help prevent recurring issues, the startup takes an omnichannel approach, providing care both at its physical location and through online programmes. Within eight months of opening its first centre in Bengaluru, the company claims to have conducted more than 12,000 sessions.
"We should be as close to the customer as possible. So, the plan is to first see how far we can go within Bengaluru with a few additional formats. We currently have a flagship 2,000-square-foot format, but we plan to experiment with different formats. "I believe we will try to expand into one more city next year," he said.
According to Arora, the startup intends to establish approximately six physical centers by December of this year.
Anand Chandrasekaran, partner at General Catalyst, commented on the investment, saying, "Stance Health's model stands out in India by combining offline touchpoints with online engagement, distinguishing it from approaches in developed markets." Rohit and Ninad's ability to combine clinical excellence with scalable, consumer-focused execution is exactly what the Indian healthcare ecosystem requires."
"Despite the growing burden on healthcare systems, there has been little innovation in MSK care. Stance Health's model not only improves patient access to structured treatment, but it also creates a scalable, tech-enabled framework capable of setting new industry standards," said Nitin Sharma, partner at Antler.
