Tax authorities are sending GST demand notifications to several businesses in India coupled with a penalty and interest. The Income Tax and GST departments have sent notifications to the following well-known persons.
A Rs 5.51 crore tax demand is received by United Spirits
The non-submission of specific statutory declaration forms and delivery evidence has resulted in a tax demand of Rs 5.51 crore, including interest, according to United Spirits Ltd.
According to a regulatory filing from United Spirits Ltd, the Deputy Commissioner of State Tax, Nanded, has demanded that certain statutory declaration forms and delivery proofs be submitted in the case of Pioneer Distilleries Ltd, which merged with the firm on December 30, 2023.
It also stated that the total amount of demand is Rs 5.51 crore, including interest of Rs 2.99 crore.

Tax demand notifications for Rs 46 crore are sent to Sobha Ltd.
The Income Tax Department has sent demand letters totaling around Rs 46 crore to the real estate company Sobha Ltd. The letters were sent out by Bengaluru's Central Circle-1(4) Deputy Commissioner of Income Tax. The announcements pertain to the Assessment Years (AY) 2022–2023 and 2016–17.
On Monday, Sobha said in a regulatory filing that the "company has received demand notices under section 156 of the Income Tax Act, 1961 for Rs 13.12 crore and Rs 32.68 crore related to AY 2016-17 and AY 2022-23 respectively, due to disallowances of certain expenses and other additions."
According to Sobha, an appeal against the aforementioned rulings is now being filed within the required timeframe with the Commissioner of Income Tax (Appeals).
"The corporation may support its claims with facts and legal justifications. The business is currently assessing how these orders may affect the financial results," Sobha stated.
ICICI Securities has requested Rs 66 lakh in taxes.
The Gujarat state GST authority has sent ICICI Securities a tax demand of around Rs 66.70 lakh.
The brokerage business stated in a regulatory filing that the claim included interest of Rs. 31.72 lakh, penalty of Rs. 3.20 lakh, and GST of Rs. 31.78 lakh. For an alleged excess claim of GST credit, the Gujarat GST administration has demanded almost Rs 66.70 lakh GST in addition to interest and penalties.
The business will appeal the order to the Commissioner (Appeals) and defend the case before the appellate authority. ICICI Securities' shares ended the day at Rs 719.85 a share, down 0.54% from the previous close on the BSE.
Zomato receives a Rs 184 crore tax demand notice
Zomato, an online meal delivery business, said that it will challenge a service tax claim and penalty order of more than Rs 184 crore to the relevant authorities.
The firm said in a late-night regulatory filing that it has received a demand order for non-payment of service tax for the period of October 2014 to June 2017. The order was based on certain transactions that the company's international subsidiaries and branches made to their clients who were situated outside of India.
