Official trends from the Election Commission of India point to the BJP winning three consecutive elections. According to EC figures, the BJP leads in 48 seats, comfortably above the majority threshold of 46, while the Congress leads in 36 seats. Savitri Jindal, Nayab Singh Saini, and Bhupinder Singh Hooda are popular leaders in their respective areas.
Savitri Jindal, an independent candidate, trounced her nearest challenger, INC's Ram Niwas Rara, by approximately 20,000 votes.
According to the Election Commission, India's richest woman, former Haryana minister Savitri Jindal, was leading her nearest Congress competitor Ram Niwas Rara by more than 6,000 votes in the Hisar assembly seat as of 1:05 p.m.
She had held the Hisar seat on a Congress ticket from 2005 until 2013, but was defeated by Kamal Gupta. Once again, the two electoral adversaries will compete in the same constituency. Her son, Naveen Jindal, is a BJP MP representing the Kurukshetra seat.
When questioned about his mother Savitri Jindal running as an independent candidate, Naveen Jindal told PTI, "It is going to be a one-sided contest, which Mata Savitri Jindal will win by a big margin."
Kamal Gupta served as Haryana's cabinet minister for health, urban housing and development, and aviation. Savitri Jindal has previously served as Haryana's Minister of Revenue and Disaster Management. Aside from Jindal and Gupta, Congress' Ram Niwas Rara is also running for the Hisar seat.
The main contenders are the BJP, Congress, Aam Aadmi Party, INLD-BSP, and JJP-Azad Samaj Party. However, in the majority of seats, the BJP and the Congress will face off directly. Polling for the Haryana Assembly's 90 seats finished on October 5. The counting of ballots for Haryana's assembly elections will begin at 8 a.m. Postal ballots will be tallied first, followed by EVM counting 30 minutes later.
