In a Series A funding round, international and domestic investors, including Ambis Holding US, Kuberan Ventures, Karimjee Group from Africa, Mission Vertical, Sanjeev Saraf Family Office, and Pravek Kalp Family Office, led Bengaluru-based electric motorcycle manufacturer Oben Electric to raise Rs 50 crore. The business has raised a total of Rs 150 crore in equity capital with the most recent round.
By the end of FY26, Oben Electric plans to utilize the money to grow its distribution network to more than 100 showrooms in 50 Indian cities, the company said in a statement. It currently has more than 20 showrooms and operates in 10 cities. The business also intends to expand production capacity at its Bengaluru manufacturing facility, which produces 100,000 units annually, and improve its product selection.
The Oben Rorr series, which includes the recently released Oben Rorr EZ (Easy), is the flagship product in Oben Electric's lineup. The Rorr EZ, which starts at Rs 89,999, is made for city commuting and has three battery options with a range of up to 175 km (under Indian driving conditions), a top speed of 95 km/h, and quick acceleration (0–40 km/h in 3.3 seconds), according to the firm.
"We’ve built this company from the ground up, without reliance on strategic investors or corporate backing, empowering us to remain agile and focus on what truly matters - delivering high-quality, high-performance EVs that address the unique needs of Indian consumers," stated Madhumita Agrawal, Founder and CEO of Oben Electric.
The business claims that one of the things that sets Oben's motorcycles apart is the usage of Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery technology. According to the firm, it is the first in the Indian market for electric two-wheelers.
"The enormous and rapidly expanding total addressable market for Oben's e-motorcycles excites us. Mission Vertical Capital Founder and General Partner Jeff Mamera stated, "Our thorough analysis of the market convinced us that this management team has built an excellent intellectual property portfolio, efficient manufacturing, and brought in strong talent to execute their go-to-market strategy."
