Women's wellness and hygiene brand Nua raises Rs 35 crore in a pre-Series C round led by Mirabilis Investment Trust. This round has also seen the participation of some investors such as Samir Singh and Shuchi Kothari.
The Mumbai-based firm has raised $21.5 million in funding (this round included) from its existing investors, which includes Lightbox VC, Kae Capital, actress Deepika Padukone, and Vindi Banga.
Proceeds would be used on retail expansion with the launch of new products within marketplaces and quick commerce plus offline retail, all that plus much more from us, Nua stated in a press release.
Founded in 2017 by Abhishek Ramanathan, Nua offers digital-first products that cater toward the development of holistic and person-specific solutions meant to tackle serious issues that women face today. From unique, chemical-free sanitary pads made of plant-fiber to offer period panties or intimate hygiene ranges, cramp-care solutions after periods, help during post-delivery, cyclical acne range, the array of products created has grown since then.
Nua focuses on delivering a better and more comprehensive experience for women by providing safe, high-quality products, engaging content, and building a strong community all of which have contributed to its differentiation in a rapidly growing market. The company will continue to invest in new products, content, and emerging channels to accelerate its momentum over the next 6–8 quarters.
In the last 12 months, the company launched new product segments focused on comfort and toxin-free formulation, such as extra-long night pads, disposable period panties, menstrual cups, and postpartum products. Nua is sold directly on its website, as well as on third-party websites such as Zepto, Amazon, and Flipkart.
The market research reveals that the feminine hygiene products market globally will grow from about $31.8 billion in 2023 to about $66.7 billion by 2033 at a CAGR of 7.7% for the period from 2024 to 2033.
Nua claims it has become profitable and scaled revenue more than 2.5x. The company turned profitable in Q2, crossed the net revenue ARR of Rs 100 crore in Q3 and hopes to scale it up to Rs 150 crore net revenue ARR in the next quarter.
The firm competes in this space against other notable players such as Whisper, Stayfree, and Sofy among many others.
