Mayor Amarjit Singh Jitni Sidhu presided over the Mohali Municipal Corporation's finance and contract committee (F&CC) meeting on Thursday, which authorized new development estimates totaling ₹3.62 crore and issued work orders for previously approved projects totaling ₹7.6 crore.
Municipal Commissioner T Benith, Councillors Jasbir Singh Manku and Anuradha Anand, senior deputy mayor Amrik Singh Somal, and deputy mayor Kuljit Singh Bedi were among the authorities present at the meeting.
Installing new traffic signals in Sectors 74 and 90-91, purchasing a second funeral van for Mohali's cremation ground, transferring municipal libraries to social welfare organizations, maintaining the green belts from Bawa White House to Jagatpura entry, building a yoga shed in Silvy Park, starting solid waste management work at the dumping point in Phase 8-B, and building sheds at the Phase-10 mini-market and Jagatpura dumping point are some of the major projects that have been approved.
In the meantime, the mayor called representatives of the mechanical sweeping contractor and convened a separate meeting with the sanitation department. He gave them instructions to clean Industrial Area, Phase 8-B, where work is apparently lacking, and to guarantee wall-to-wall mechanical sweeping on major roadways.
Additionally, the mayor instructed the officials to personally oversee the quality of all ongoing projects and to maintain high standards of work.
