Lieutenant Governor Intends to Spend Rs 1.5 crore on his own PR

Lieutenant Governor Intends to Spend Rs 1.5 crore on his own PR, according to AAP

In a new round of squabbles, the AAP claimed on Tuesday that the Lieutenant Governor (L-G) is issuing a Rs 1.5 crore procurement with taxpayer funds to promote his social media image.

The party questioned why a person in a "ornamental" position needed to burden taxpayers by filing a tender to hire a company to handle his social media presence, describing it as a "conspiracy" to influence voters ahead of assembly elections.

Addressing the press, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj highlighted a tender placed on the L-G's official website, stating that around Rs 1.5 crore will be spent yearly to promote the L-G on social media.

An agency will be responsible for totally administering the L-G's current social media accounts and channels, as well as operating the Secretariat's handles. According to Bharadwaj, this suggests they would utilize both paid and non-paid methods to enhance their reach, "meaning they want to become famous quickly before the elections".

He stated that the L-G Secretariat is given money to manage the Secretariat, not to boost the L-G's popularity. "With an army of ten workers, the L-G is spending Rs 1.5 crore of Delhiites' money to shine his face. This is a source of great embarrassment, and it is a scheme to influence the Delhi assembly elections,' the minister stated.

According to Bharadwaj, the L-G, Governor, and President's positions are 'ornamental offices'. "But what is occurring now is completely unlawful... the L-G has such a strong desire to become famous...he wants to become famous by paying with taxpayers' money. It is a matter of shame,' he stated.

He stated that the L-G Secretariat is given money to manage the Secretariat, not to boost the L-G's popularity. "With an army of 10 personnel, the L-G is spending Rs 1.5 crore.
