Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, announced that Lam Research, a US-based semiconductor services company, will invest Rs 10,000 crore in India.

In a LinkedIn post, Lam Research's general manager for India, Rangesh Raghavan, announced that the company and the Karnataka government had reached an agreement to lease and eventually buy a piece of land in Whitefield, Bengaluru.
"Lam announced plans to expand its supply chain to India last year. Significant progress has already been made, with several custom parts and high precision components from Indian suppliers passing Lam's qualification cycle. "Plans are underway to scale the India supply chain operation over the next few years to support global resilience objectives," Raghavan stated in his post.
The Indian Semiconductor Mission has approved five projects totaling Rs76,000 crore. These projects include Micron Technology's Sanand ATMP plant.
With a combined investment of Rs 91,000 crore, Tata Electronics and Taiwan's Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corporation (PSMC) are collaborating to build India's first commercial fabrication plant in Dholera, Gujarat.
Additionally, Sanand, Gujarat, and Morigaon, Assam, have Outsourced Semiconductor Assembly and Test (OSAT) facilities.
The Modified Scheme for Semiconductor Assembly, Testing, Marking, and Packaging (ATMP) will see CG Power and Industrial Solutions Limited invest Rs7,500 crore in the Sanand OSAT facility.
Tata Electronics will also develop another OSAT unit in Morigaon, Assam, with an investment of Rs 27000 crore. Kaynes also operates an OSAT facility.
