Jabil Inc, a US-based manufacturing behemoth, plans to open a new factory in Gujarat, its second location in India. The corporation plans to invest Rs 1,000 crore to boost its presence in India.
The agreement includes plans to explore a silicon photonics post-wafer fabrication facility with advanced co-packaged optics capabilities.
Jabil Inc., which creates and produces supply chain solutions and electrical circuit board assemblies and systems, plans to increase its footprint in the nation.
Gujarat is now a part of Jabil's global network, which spans 25 countries and includes more than 100 facilities. Matt Crowley, Executive Vice President, Global Business Units at Jabil, said, "This expansion shows our ability to implement solutions that best serve our customers as businesses navigate changing market conditions."
The announcement came after Jabil and the Gujarat government signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during the Gujarat SemiConnect IESA Vision Summit in Gandhinagar.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel praised Jabil's investment, saying, "Jabil's presence will create jobs for the next generation while enhancing our semiconductor industry's growth and competitiveness."
Developing products, offering optical networking solutions, and producing large-scale components for data communications, AI, and telecommunications, Jabil has been active in photonics for more than ten years. The business also provides services to the automotive, healthcare, semiconductor equipment, and warehouse automation sectors.
Gujarat is a key player in India's semiconductor and electronics ecosystem, and its pursuit of high-tech manufacturing continues to attract substantial investment.
