Eximius Ventures, a pre-seed venture capital firm, announced Thursday that it is opening its second fund to the tune of $30 million. This fund will focus on investing in 25-30 fintech, AI/SaaS, frontier tech, and consumer-tech startups. According to the fund, the minimum investment per company will be $500K, and half of the fund will be set aside for follow-on investments.
So far, the fund has invested in four consumer tech and AI/SaaS startups, with Eximius either leading or co-leading investments alongside with other institutional investors.
This represents the new offering in the first $10 million fund that Eximius launched in 2021. The proceedings from this fund will be raised from a range of diversified limited partners, or LPs, including high-net-worth individuals, or HNIs, founder-investors, family offices, and those based outside India- international Japanese corporate venture companies, CVCs.
Speaking on the launch, Pearl Agarwal, Founder and Managing Partner at Eximius Ventures, said, “At a time when funding is becoming increasingly selective, Eximius is doubling down on pre-seed startups, with an aim to drive momentum in India’s innovation ecosystem. We reject the ‘spray and pray’ mentality, especially at the earliest stages, and instead focus on backing bold, thesis-driven ideas with contrarian view points.”
Eximius Ventures' first fund has supported 23 startups, with approximately 60% securing multiple up-rounds from global investors, resulting in an internal rate of return (IRR) of over 40%. The new fund plans to build on the success of Fund I by following a similar strategy.
According to data from Tracxn, Eximius made nine investments in 2024, up from four in 2023, nine in 2022, and five in 2021. The firm has made 22 seed-stage investments and two at the Series A stage. Notable portfolio companies from its first fund include Jar, Vegapay, Stan, and others.
