According to insiders, Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, is scheduled to land in New Delhi on Sunday and meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday morning to announce his plans to invest in the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
Furthermore, as per the sources, Musk will present a strategy for possible investments in India of up to $20 billion over several years, with announcements of up to $3 billion expected in the first phase.
Although there has been much talk about starting Tesla sales in the nation this year, Musk is expected to speak with companies at Bharat Mandapam. Uncertainty exists about whether the Starlink deal will be completed on this trip, though, as sources have stated that the Ministry of Home Affairs has not yet given its final approval. AN official announcement on Starlink may not occur because of the upcoming national elections and the model code of behavior.
Musk formally announced his trip to India and scheduled meeting with Prime Minister Modi on April 10. "Excited to meet with Prime Minister @NarendraModi in India," he wrote in a post on X.
Musk had met Modi in June of last year while the prime leader was visiting the US. The Tesla CEO then expressed confidence that the business will soon join the Indian market and stated that he wanted to visit India in 2024.
