According to a report, the Union government may introduce major relief measures for LPG and PNG subscribers in the next Budget 2025–2026.
The report claims that the oil ministry has requested funding for LPG subsidies totaling over Rs 17,000 crore.
It is anticipated that these monies will sustain the current Ujjwala recipients' subsidy program after March 2025. A subsidy of Rs 300 per LPG cylinder is being provided to around 10 crore Ujjwala clients.
The ministry has suggested a new framework for PNG connection subsidies in addition to LPG assistance. Free PNG connections, no connection fees, and no security deposit are all included in this plan.
The government increases Ujjwala users' LPG subsidies to Rs 300 per cylinder.
Will LPG and PNG become more affordable in Budget 2025?
Consumers currently spend roughly Rs 7,000 for a new PNG connection. The system will most likely follow the Ujjwala model, with the goal of greatly expanding the city's gas distribution network.
If authorized, these measures are likely to reduce household financial burdens while also encouraging a broader move toward cleaner fuel use in both urban and rural locations.
Details about the final provisions will be revealed in the Union Budget.
