Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently mentioned five target categories: youth, women, farmers, and the impoverished, according to Nirmala Sitharaman, who spoke at an event last week in New Delhi. She said the administration intends to uplift these groups without disregarding caste, community, or religion.
"Yuva, women, the providers of our food security, exemplary farmers, and the unlucky impoverished, who still require additional support to achieve upward mobility. Everything would be directed towards improving their situation," Sitharaman declared.
According to sources, there may be a significant increase in funding for skill development and education that would address adolescent concerns. The government plans to raise funding for the Skill India programme by up to 10% from the existing amount of Rs 2,278 crore, which will be included in the interim budget.
Additionally, it appears that more funds will soon be allocated to centrally funded programmes that focus on the development of women and children. Continued focus on farmer welfare is visible in the agricultural sector, as seen by changes to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and an expected increase in funding of up to 30% for the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi.
A provision added in the last Interim Budget, the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi provides small and marginal farmers with an annual transfer of Rs 6,000. According to sources, there may be a rise in this amount this year. The budgetary authorities have also assessed certain recommendations on expanding health care benefits and enhancing the appeal of the New Pension Scheme by guaranteeing a certain rate of return This will be Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman's sixth budget and the 12th budget overall for the Modi administration.
