Uttar Pradesh's textile industry may profit the most from disruptions caused by political upheaval in Bangladesh. According to estimates, roughly 700-1000 small and medium-sized garment and textile factories in Bangladesh closed once the recent political crisis began.
According to authorities, major companies have approached the Yogi Adityanath administration with plans to put up units at a planned textile park on Lucknow-Hardoi Road. The park has 1,162 acres.
Arvind Mills, Vardhman, Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Industries Ltd, Ahuja Textile Mill, and others have proposed an investment of ₹10,000 crore. Plots in the textile park are now being allotted, and infrastructural development is underway, according to a textile ministry spokesperson.
Around 400 large and small units may be built in this textile park, producing direct employment for over 50,000 people.
"All big brands in India are increasing manufacturing capacity to meet new requests. Rakesh Sachan, the state government's MSME, Khadi, and textile minister, stated that the forthcoming textile park in Lucknow has offered a timely chance for significant businesses to increase their manufacturing capacity.
The textile park would not only manufacture clothing and yarn, but will also aid with marketing, design, and export, he noted. Bangladesh's garment and textile sector accounts for more than 80% of export revenues and 11% of GDP.
India has set a target of $100 billion in garment exports over the next five years. The state's handloom and textile industries are notable, since it is India's third-largest textile producer. It contributes significantly to the state's economy and employs a big number of people.
Uttar Pradesh's notable products include Banarasi sarees, Lucknow's Chikankari, and Bhadohi carpets. Banarasi sarees from Varanasi are famous for their fine workmanship and elaborate motifs. Manufacturing units are allocated ₹300 crore on a first-come, first-served basis.
The park's common infrastructure comprises a road network, 24/7 power supply, water supply, warehouses, a zero liquid discharge effluent treatment plant, training and skill development facilities, an administrative building with a product display facility, and an exhibition center with a testing laboratory.
Other elements of the park will be workers' dormitories, housing zones, medical facilities, commercial and recreational areas.
