Astrogate Labs, a spacetech startup, has raised USD 1.3 million in Pre-Series funding led by Piper Serica Angel Fund. The funds will be used to accelerate the development of its laser communication terminals for space and other use cases in terrestrial and airborne applications, scale operations, and strengthen partnerships with space agencies and defense organizations.
Nitish Singh, Yogeshwaran J, and Subhajit Chakraborty founded Astrogate Labs. The business offers technology that enhances data downlink for small satellite constellations, enabling more effective data transmission to the ground.
Current radio frequency systems will experience severe bandwidth limitations and spectrum congestion by 2030, when more than 25,000 small satellites are predicted to be in orbit. According to Astrogate, its laser communication solutions offer a scalable substitute for safe, fast data transfer at up to 10 Gbps.
Astrogate Labs has also been recognized for its technological innovations, including DRDO Dare to Dream 4.0, and will graduate from the Seraphim Space Accelerator APAC Program in 2023.
Speciale Invest, SatSure, and Anicut Capital have provided early funding to help the Bengaluru-based company develop its innovative technology.
