Apple is apparently working on a less expensive version of the Vision Pro headset. According to The Verge, citing The Information, the tech giant has been looking into ways to cut the cost of Vision Pro's internal components while also working on a cheaper model, which is expected to enter the market by the end of 2025.
Furthermore, as per a credible source, Apple has been concerned about the Vision Pro headset's sales decrease and is likely to blame its high price and heavy build. Apple plans to reduce the weight of a more cheap model, dubbed "N109" internally, by "at least one-third". While the corporation is unlikely to compromise on the device's high-resolution display, other components that Apple considers less vital may be eliminated from future iterations.
Also, it is said that Apple is aiming for a price that is comparable to the high-end iPhone models. Bloomberg reported last year that Apple may be working on a more cheap version of the Vision Pro headset, priced between USD 1,500 and USD 2,500. This is consistent with a recent rumor, as the 1TB storage edition of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is presently available for USD 1,599 on Apple's website.
The Vision Pro, Apple's first mixed reality headset, was released earlier this year, although it was only available in the United States at the time. During the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) earlier this month, Apple said that the headset would be available in additional territories including China, Hong Kong, Japan, and Singapore, as well as Australia, Canada, France, Germany, and the UK. There was no confirmation of the headset's availability in India.
