According to industry statistics, the next long weekend around Independence Day is turning out to be the ideal chance for a mid-year break. The prolonged weekend, which spans five days and begins on Thursday, August 15, and ends on Rakshabandhan on August 19, is the ideal time for a lengthy vacation.
While all major routes have seen a spike in airfare, vacation rental hotels are seeing an increase in reservations. The top domestic vacation destinations include Pondicherry, where hotel reservations have increased by 761%, Udaipur, where reservations are up 441%, and Munnar, Kerala, where reservations are up 321%, according to travel website Cleartrip.
A platform spokeswoman stated, "So far, over 15,000 air bookings have been made for the long weekend, marking a 37 per cent increase compared to a typical weekend." In contrast, Goa has seen a 166% increase in reservations.
Long weekends are turning out to be the ideal time for travelers to look for quick vacations, and for the travel industry to take advantage of the increased demand, as the monsoon season adds to the allure of travel. According to Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director and Region Senior Vice President, South Asia, Radisson Hotel Group, "We are witnessing nearly a 20 per cent surge in demand for resorts and hotels compared to last year, and we anticipate this trend to accelerate further."

"For their three to five-day stays, guests are choosing a mix of luxury and mid-segment accommodations." Furthermore, compared to prior years, our clients are willing to spend 20% more on hotels. It's encouraging that bookings throughout our portfolio have increased," Sharma added.
The opulent Fairmont Hotel in Jaipur is offering extended weekend packages that include free cocktails and cultural events for guests. A 20% discount is included in the package on a number of facilities, including meals. Meanwhile, ixigo reports that travelers are more interested in adjacent foreign locations in addition to domestic ones.
"With Independence Day and Rakshabandhan falling on consecutive weekends in August, Indians are getting ready for their next vacation. Visa-free entry and low airfare are the main drivers of the increase in international travel. Bookings for well-known locations like Bali, Thailand, Kuwait, and Singapore have increased by 60–70% year over year, while newly popular short-haul locations like Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Vietnam are becoming more and more popular among Indian tourists," highlighted Aloke Bajpai, Chairman & Managing Director, and Group CEO of ixigo.
