AIG Hospitals, a multispecialty hospital, plans to invest Rs 800 crore in a new specialized oncology center in Hyderabad.
AIG Hospitals' Board of Directors has also approved the acquisition of a Proton Beam Therapy system from Belgium-based IBA, a proton therapy equipment and service provider.
"The acquisition of the Proton Beam Therapy System and the strategic partnership with IBA represent a transformative step forward in our mission to provide cutting-edge, compassionate care," AIG Hospitals chairman Dr. D. Nageshwar Reddy stated in a press release.
According to a hospital press statement, AIG Hospitals has agreed to purchase a cutting-edge Proteus-ONE Proton Therapy System from IBA, which includes DynamicARC technology.
The system will be Southeast Asia's first installation of DynamicARC proton treatment, a novel delivery technology. This strategic acquisition is a significant step forward in AIG Hospitals' commitment to provide the most sophisticated, effective, and accessible cancer care to patients in India, the company stated.
"The Proteus-ONE Proton Therapy System will be part of our new 300-bedded dedicated oncology centre coming up within the existing Gachibowli campus (in Hyderabad)," Nageshwar Reddy further stated.
According to the statement, AIG Hospitals would invest Rs 800 crore in this new oncology unit, making it the country's third proton therapy centre.
AIG Hospitals Vice Chairman PVS Raju stated that the acquisition of Proton Beam Therapy technology fits nicely with the company's aim of offering world-class cancer care within India.
