Nita Ambani, the chairperson of the Reliance Foundation, wears several hats: she is a businesswoman, philanthropist, and the owner of the Mumbai Indians IPL team. Nita Ambani began her working life as a nursery school teacher. Within a year of her marriage to Mukesh Ambani, the chairman of Reliance Industries (RIL), she began working as a teacher. Three weeks after dating later, in 1985, the two were married.
In a Rendezvous with Simi Garewal episode, Nita Ambani disclosed that she continued to work as a teacher at the Sunflower Nursery after getting married to Mukesh Ambani, earning Rs 800 a month.
In this interview, the chairperson of the Reliance Foundation states that although she used to get teased at work, she was happy with her employment at the time.
"People used to laugh at me that time, but I think it gave me a lot of satisfaction," she stated. After Nita Ambani stated, "I was paid Rs 800 a month," Mukesh Ambani interjected, claiming that the work paid for "all their dinners" and adding, "And all that salary was mine."
Mukesh Ambani disclosed in the course of the interview how he proposed to his wife. In the middle of a traffic bottleneck on Mumbai's Peddar Road, the chairman of Reliance Industries recommended Nita Ambani. With sizzling car horns and long lineups around, Mukesh Ambani posed the question, "Will you marry me?" to Nita.
Nita was shocked when Ambani expected an answer right away. Mukesh Ambani insisted on a prompt response despite the unanticipated nature of the circumstance and wouldn't move the automobile until he received one. Although Nita was apprehensive at first, Mukesh repeated his question, "Say yes or no now."
While stuck in a lengthy traffic jam in Mumbai, Nita agreed to Mukesh's suggestion. Nita then questioned Mukesh about what he would have done if she had declined. Ambani stated he would have driven her home and would have stayed with her close buddy.
